Embed forms on Canva

Add a form to a Canva website or a Canva Doc with Canva's Embed element, which takes the form's link rather than an HTML snippet.

A form built with Tinyform can sit on a Canva website or inside a Canva Doc. Canva's own Embed element does the work: it takes a public link and draws the page behind it. No plugin, no code, and no particular Canva plan is needed on the Canva side.

Use cases

A Canva site looks finished the moment you publish it, but its native form options are thin. An embedded form lets you ask exactly what you need, styled to sit with the page:

  • Contact forms. Let visitors reach you without putting an email address on the page.
  • Client intake forms. Collect the brief, the timeline and the budget before a project starts.
  • Event RSVPs and registrations. Gather attendee details on a launch, workshop or wedding site.
  • Order forms. Take orders from a Canva storefront or landing page. The order form templates are a starting point.
  • Feedback and surveys. Put a feedback form on a portfolio or a client-facing page. See the feedback form templates.

How to embed a form on your Canva website

Step 1: Build and publish your form

Create a form in the editor or start from a template, then press Publish. Only a published form has a link to embed.

Step 2: Copy your embed link

Open the Share tab, and under Embed Form choose Standard. Set the embed options the way you want them, for example Hide form title and Transparent background, then press Copy embed link. That copies the framed address, /embed/<id>, with your options on it.

The plain share link under Share Link, which is the published form at /r/<id>, works in the Embed element as well. The difference is that /embed/<id> drops the page's own margins and lets you hide the title, which suits a page that already has a heading.

Step 3: Add the Embed element in Canva

In the Canva website editor, open Apps in the left sidebar and search for Embed.

Open Embed, paste the link into its box, and press Add to Design.

Step 4: Resize and publish

Drag the corners of the embed to size it, move it into place, and press Publish website in the top right.

Embedding a form in a Canva Doc

A form can also go inside a Canva Doc, which suits an internal wiki, a proposal or meeting notes. Open the Doc, type /embed, choose Embed from the menu, and paste the same link.

Customizing your embedded form to match your brand

Set the embed options before you copy the link, because the options travel on the link itself:

  • Hide form title when the Canva page already has a heading.
  • Transparent background so the form takes the page's own background.
  • Dynamic height so the frame grows and shrinks as a visitor moves through the pages.
  • Align content to the left when the form should follow the page's left edge instead of centring.

Colours, fonts and the cover come from the form's own Customize panel and apply wherever the form is shown. On a paid plan you can also remove the branding badge and serve the form from a custom domain; a form on a connected domain embeds the same way, at its own address.

Troubleshooting

  1. The embed is blank while editing. Expected. Canva only renders an embed live in Preview, Present or on the published site.
  2. The form's look did not change after you changed an option. Embed options live on the link. Copy the link again and replace it in Canva. Changes to the form's content, on the other hand, show up on their own, because the frame always loads the latest published version.
  3. The link will not paste. Make sure you copied the link with Copy embed link and not the snippet from Get the code. Canva's Embed element accepts links only.

Frequently asked questions

Can I embed a form on Canva for free?

Yes. Embedding is on the free plan, and Canva's Embed element is free too. A paid plan is only needed for extras such as removing the badge or using a custom domain.

Does Canva accept HTML forms?

Canva does not take raw HTML in a design. Its Embed element takes a link and renders the page behind it as a live frame, which is how the form gets in.

How does this compare with Canva's own form element?

Canva's form element is limited to its paid tier and offers a handful of field types. A form from Tinyform works on every Canva plan and supports conditional logic, file uploads, hidden fields and webhooks.

Can I use the same form on several Canva pages or designs?

Yes. Paste the same link into as many Embed elements as you like. Every response lands in the same form's Submissions tab.

Will the Canva embed update when I edit the form?

Content changes appear on their own once you publish the form again. If you change an embed option, such as the transparent background, copy the link again and replace it in Canva.
